In the not-so-distant future, a chilling atmosphere pervades as the world grows colder and more distant. Within this shifting landscape, the value of age, emotion, and the marginalized diminishes, while borders loom larger than ever before.

This is the story of Shasta, daughter of a dissident and clandestine storyteller. Together, they build radio stations in a secret workshop at home, conducting nighttime raids and narrating stories that are part of a plan whose full purpose Shasta is unaware of. It's also the story of Matt Scott, director of the border security force, the dissidents' worst enemy and Shasta's neighbor. The plot will unite them in a psychological duel of hidden mutual interests revealed in intimate conversations. Intuition and intelligence will be the only weapons in a game that gradually reveals itself to be fatal.
