Synopsis:

Love can also break when we stay silent for too long.

Paola and Julio lived an intense, magnetic love story—one of those relationships forged between film premieres, stays in the south of France, and relentless, sleepless nights. But what began as overwhelming passion eventually fractured under the weight of what was left unsaid.

Ten years later, she tries to understand when the collapse truly began. He, a once-promising film director now in decline, holds onto a silence he himself seems unable to break. And as the present starts to unravel, the past returns in the guise of discovery: a buried episode from Julio’s childhood resurfaces when Paola travels to Asturias, his family’s homeland.

With an immersive structure, a sharp narrative voice, and a powerful emotional charge, this novel explores how the subconscious both protects and betrays us, how forgotten trauma shapes our decisions, and how, sometimes, loving someone means knowing when not to intervene.

Mónica Pérez Sobrino delivers a mature novel in which love, memory, and grief intersect with the clarity of someone who has learned that we cannot always save those we love most.

Mónica Pérez Sobrino left Law to study Journalism—she wanted to write. She has contributed to Diario Vasco and to S Moda, the lifestyle supplement of El País. She currently runs her own communications company. Madame No One was her debut novel.
