My Name is Darkness

This story is set at the beginning of the conquest of America and features an incredible protagonist: the Marquess Juana de Alcántara, a cultured, high-born woman fallen on hard times. Pursued by the Inquisition, she finds herself obliged to dress as a nun to survive in the hostile world of a recently founded colonial city. There, in addition to concealing her identity (and her growing attraction to the captain of the colony), she will have to solve a set of mysterious crimes while in the background the indigenous people are preparing a revolt against their new masters.
