Synopsis:

The young and stylish Spanish actress Conchita Montenegro arrives in 1930’s Hollywood to conquer the world. Thanks to her beauty, intelligence, personality and tenacity, the budding promise made a place for herself among the biggest stars of the day. Her extraordinary gaze captivated Leslie Howard, one of the most famous actors of the time, a married man who was twice her age. The lovers lived their idyll between dream parties and triumphant premieres, horseback ridings and plane flights along the coast of California, amid passion and deceit.

Thirteen years later, their love story having come to an end, the two of them met again in Madrid and, without knowing it, they found themselves involved in a plot that changed the course of World War II.

Reviews

A great novel that takes us on a journey through time that goes from paradise (Hollywood of the 30s), arrives at hell (the Spanish Civil War) and ends in purgatory (the long night of the Spanish dictatorship).
