Prelude to a War
Synopsis:
The prestigious architect Emil Zarco receives the most important commission of his career: an ambitious urban project in which he will be able to implement his ideas about the essence and destiny of humanity. He believes that, as a species, we must survive through progress and by improving our abilities. In the same city, another man takes the opposite path: he is trying to disappear from a society where he doesn’t fit in. He refuses to speak. The Mute seeks no company. Emil and the Mute are both emotionally crippled: one by the loss of a child and the other by an inability to have one. The city is witness and setting to their battle against their demons and for the love of a woman.
One of the most acclaimed international revelations of recent years, a publishing phenomenon.
