The Door of Cold
Synopsis:
Santa is an ornithologist responsible for creating a bank of bird calls and sounds from the birds that live in and visit the forests of the Basque Country. Unaware of the legends of the area, his research takes him to the deserted village of Ochate, where he records something more than just the voices of the birds... The mysterious recording will lead Santa and his friend Socrates to delve into the history that gave rise to the legends of the village, more than a thousand years ago. With the help of allies like Destroyer, Lula, and the rest of the members of the city's most surreal "film club," Santa and Socrates will unravel an ancient curse without realizing that with every step they take, the cold of Ochate traps their hearts even more.
La Puerta del Frío is the first novel by Luiso Berdejo, filmmaker and screenwriter of films like [·REC], The Endless Trench, or the film adaptation of the Baztán Trilogy. With a steady hand, cinematic rhythm, and a unique style, the author combines a dark horror story with tender and moving protagonists.
'The most evident characteristic of the dark and tortured energy that resides in Ochate is that when it possesses someone, that person can never shake off the cold from their body.'
