Synopsis:

An unsettling adventure in the heart of Africa.

Marcos and Elisabeth Blum are two newly rich people who have amassed their fortune through dubious means. Facing the possibility that their dirty business might come to light, their finance consultant suggests to them a quick way to launder their money: going to Tanzania to buy land and building a luxury resort. To make this viable, they need to bring in other investors, trusted people they won’t need to reveal too many details to, and who better than their well-off social circle?

With this in mind, the couple gets several of their friends together for dinner: Carlos, a divorced antiquarian with an air of superiority; Eduardo, a construction mogul, and his young wife Mery; Antoine, an alternative medicine doctor and a friend of the aristocracy; and Adriana, a young widowed gallerist of good character. At the last minute, Julia Soros, a young and intriguing photographer, joins in as Carlos’s girlfriend. Not only are they all tempted by the plan of sure profits, they also like the idea of a trip that mixes business and pleasure. All of them have great fortunes, and all of them sign up, unaware that this decision will change their lives forever.

A choral novel that questions human behavior and denounces the exploitation of Africa.
