Basque Country, 2007. After the failure of the last truce, ETA prepares a new coup to demonstrate its questioned strength. Two hooded men abduct at gunpoint Bixen Alzola, a university professor and defender of the peaceful route as the only alternative to solve the Basque conflict. When his wife, Leire, receives a call from the terrorist organization demanding action, she feels her world is cracking. She knows that the chances of her husband getting out unscathed are slim. During that long night, Leire makes a decision: she will do everything in her power to save her husband's life.

What will she be capable of? How far is she willing to go? And what price will she pay for it? Because nothing will be the same. There is no way back. There never is when certain limits are crossed.

The Missing is a novel about violence and how it will gradually drag down all the characters, without anyone, or anything, being able to stop it.
