The Needles of the Night

This thriller stars a 21st-century antihero who doesn’t hide who his is: homosexual, addicted to a wide variety of drugs, and a regular at gay saunas. The other characters are just as real as he is and include his ex-wife, his young son, his boss, and all sorts of people from across the social spectrum.

After an intense night of sex and drugs, Inspector Ivan de Pablos receives a call from the owner of the gay sauna in Seville he usually frequents. There’s a young man dead in one of the steam rooms, naked and with several punctures (perhaps as a result of some sexual practice) and with an amputated toe. The coroner, Dr. Carlos Sepúlveda, (coincidentally Ivan’s ex-wife's boyfriend) rules the death a heart attack. Ivan trusts him, but his instinct tells him otherwise. and he launches into a full-scale investigation of all the facts surrounding this young man’s death.

The police detective, whose professionalism is called into question because of his addictions and sexuality, will end up discovering a dark plot involving more murders linked to the city’s nightlife, and an unexpected criminal.
