Dr. Jordi Riera del Brío

Dr. Jordi Riera del Brío is an intensive care specialist and Director of the Adult ECMO Program at Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona. Recognized internationally as a leading expert in ECMO, he serves on the Steering Committee of EuroELSO and the Scientific Committee of ELSO (Extracorporeal Life Support Organization). He also coordinates the working groups on nosocomial infection and education within the ECMO community.

As a tutor for ICU residents, Dr. Riera is deeply involved in training new specialists and regularly leads ECMO simulation-based courses both in Spain and abroad. He holds a PhD cum laude and received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. The author of more than one hundred scientific papers, he also spearheaded the development of the Hybrids VITA ECMO simulator.
