
Espido Freire debuted as a novelist with Irlanda, which won the Millepage Prize. Soon after, she published Donde siempre es octubre and the work with which she would become the youngest winner of the Planeta Prize: Melocotones helados. She has received the Ateneo de Sevilla Prize for Soria Moria and the Azorín Prize for Llamadme Alejandra. She is the author of numerous novels, several short story collections, young adult novels, and poetry books. Among her works published by Ariel, Para vos nací, Quería volar, Primer amor, and Los malos del cuento stand out.
