
DR. VALENTÍN FUSTER is one of the world’s most influential
cardiologists and the most cited Spanish scientist in history. He is Director of the
Cardiovascular Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and founding director
of Spain’s National Center for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC). A former President of
both the American Heart Association and the World Heart Federation, he has played
a decisive role in shaping global cardiovascular prevention strategies. Recipient of the
Prince of Asturias Award for Research and Editor-in-Chief of Nature Reviews Cardiology,
he is the only cardiologist to have received the highest research honors from all major
international cardiology societies.
