Blue are the Hours

In the middle of the First World War, just before the fall of Warsaw, a woman risks her life at the front. It is Sofia Casanova, the first war correspondent in Spanish history. She reported for ABC, visiting the trenches and denouncing the brutality of the conflict. Far removed from the tranquil life that Sofia might once have imagined for herself, she was trapped in Poland at the outbreak of the war. The extraordinary events of this woman’s life began when she was a child and her father abandoned the family, forcing them to move from their native Galicia to Madrid. There, she soon stood out academically and was admitted into select circles. The day that she met the Polish diplomat and philosopher Wincenty Lutoslawski she knew that she had to be his wife. After a whirlwind romance, they married and went to Poland, the first of many destinations on her travels. After a few years, however, Lutoslawski rejected Sofia and she was forced to find a living to support her daughters.
