The Fourth of July is an important day for Helen Parker. She has always dreamed of watching the fireworks from the top of the Empire State Building, but she never imagined that a Moonbeam would turn her into a magician.

Helen was that Chinese-American girl who tried to keep a low profile, the one who dipped her head in her sketchbooks and avoided thinking about the future of her first relationship by helping out at her parents’ restaurant. However, now that she knows the hidden side of New York, nothing will ever be the same again.

The Elmoon School of Magic reopens its doors. That’s where they teach those who were touched by the ray. While she is just a newcomer trying to control her new powers, at Elmoon they try to find out what is behind the strange events that are taking place in New York.
