The protagonist from the two previous books (on cemeteries and prisons) writes letters to the author during the pandemic, each discussing a different insane asylum. The accounts are full of anecdotes, some quite unsettling and others more accessible, with a mix of humorous and always surprising tales. The narrative doesn’t dwell on the morbid but rather engages the reader’s curiosity without causing undue distress. At the end of each chapter, a movie and a song related to the discussed asylum are recommended. As a finale, there’s a quote from well-known figures.
